Business Plan should convert an idea into a practical, evidence-based path forward. It must describe the business, its clientele, its methods of operation and the reason for the financial projections being realistic. Our business plan service is designed for entrepreneurs, students, start-ups and established businesses who require a business plan that is clear for planning, assessment, internal decision making or to discuss with interested funders. Plans are not constructed of generic statements, but instead around the purpose and audience.

Work starts with a brief that outlines the product/service, target market, location, stage of development, competitors and operating model and financial information. Then an experienced business writer determines the different sections the plan needs. They can be an executive summary, company overview, customer problem, value proposition, market analysis, marketing strategy, operations, management, risk assessment, milestones and financial forecasts. Academic business plans may also be used to align with the module instructions and backed by recognised strategic models if appropriate.

We pay special attention to the link between sections. The customer profile should be backed up by market evidence, the marketing plan should be suitable for the target market, the cost of staffing and operations should be included in the financial model and the capacity and costs should be realistic in forecasts. If numbers are given, they can be presented in sales, cost, cash-flow and break-even perspectives. Assumptions are explicitly identified and clearly explained to the reader to explain the basis for the projections. We do not make up data statements or guarantee investment returns, and we advise customers to check market and financial information before relying on it outside the plan.

A business plan is readable and of quality, too. Conciseness of heading, well-ordered sections and direct language are important for the decision maker to grasp and understand the opportunity at a rapid pace. Technical concepts are presented in non-technical terms. Tables or charts may be suggested where they facilitate comparing pricing/milestones, competitors or financial information. The executive summary is then further polished after the main plan, to effectively summarise the best aspects of the plan without sounding too salesy.

A customer may select for help the new plan, a specific part or an existing draft. A specialist can question the weak assumptions, and ask questions that need to be addressed and answer with further research. Support for academic work is provided through coaching and editing, as well as providing the student with models and content to which they can refer responsibly. The plan is kept confidential and can be changed as the business grows and changes for commercial use.

The document will be checked for internal consistency, numerical sense, tone, grammar and presentation before being delivered. Names, dates, currency and terminology are reviewed throughout sections. The final plan should appear realistic, coherent and specific to the business venture. It provides a clear outline to the reader with a vision of the opportunity, available resources and actions to be taken, and provides a handy working document for the customer as real evidence is found.

Services can be scaled based on the maturity of the idea. For a customer problem that has not yet been fully explored, the founder might need a lean plan to get answers to the question and to decide on the next experiment. It may be a complex document for someone who has an established business and is looking to expand the business, or it may be a new service line or operational enhancement. We are also able to assist with creating supporting documents like a SWOT analysis, competitor comparison, implementation timeline or assumptions register. Each addition should be followed by a decision and any material which doesn’t help the reader is removed. The plan is flexible so that if there is a change in circumstances, key people or key dates can change. Not only is the prose polished, but customers walk away with a real toolkit for better questions, consistently going further and further in tracking progress and communicating the business with partners, advisers and internal teams.
